We are looking for an experienced Buyer/Planner to plan, procure and execute material requirements for production items according to the MRP plan in an engineering manufacturing environment. In addition, the position will analyze system-planned information for accuracy; release purchase orders to suppliers and manufacturing orders to production while maintaining valid schedules and material control practices.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Ensure continuity of supply, effective competition, quality and prompt delivery of products from internal and external suppliers.
Utilize metrics and problem solving techniques to ensure root cause resolution on delivery, lead-time, cost, and other critical performance metrics.
Utilize ERP/MRP system to analyze supply and demand for components and sub-assemblies. Analysis includes component part availability, lot size, lead-time, cost and other critical parameters.
Utilize project management skills to seamlessly integrate material changes into a manufacturing environment.
Collaborates with others to identify potential material shortages and expedites as appropriate.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required and professional certification preferred (i.e. APICS, CPP, and/or CPPM).
8+ years of related Materials experience in a manufacturing environment required.
5+ years experience buying technical components, i.e. lasers, optics, and SMT boards.
2 years minimum experience in global sourcing and logistics.
